Chinese reality shows should reflect real life
Reality shows on Chinese TV channels should shun vulgarity, vanity and money worship, and avoid glorifying celebrities, said a circular issued by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television recently. Instead, they should portray real life and pay more attention to ordinary people. Comments:
Reality shows, all of which seem to enjoy high audience ratings, have been trying to out-compete each other by inviting more celebrities, rather than focusing on program quality and originality. The content of such TV programs should carry more value. For example, by integrating historical anecdotes, human concerns and occupational experiences, the shows could be socially significant and thus have long-lasting influence.
