Only efficient management can cure the ills of road toll system

The Ministry of Transport published a draft administrative regulation on toll roads on Tuesday seeking public opinions. According to the draft regulation, the authorities plan to extend the period for charging tolls, allowing highway management companies to continue collecting tolls even after they recover the construction costs in order to maintain and operate the roads. Comments:

Before extending the toll collection period, the authorities need to make public the financial situations of the highway management companies, which are mostly State-owned, and urge them to improve their management.
