Workload grows for team who monitor online misconduct

By Cao Yin | China Daily | Updated: 2015-07-23 07:39

Beijing's Internet network security police have become younger and their workload has grown as the number of netizens continues to increase, the Beijing Public Security Bureau said.

The network team, which numbers about 50 police officers, is responsible for pointing out improper online behavior by netizens, such as posting illegal information, and disseminating legal knowledge related to such incidents, said a bureau police officer, surnamed Gao.

Some people do not know that they are forwarding fake messages online and "we'll tell them the related law and give them a lesson", Gao said.
