Science camps to boost learning

A project aimed at making science and engineering more appealing to middle-school students has been launched in China by the United States-based United Technologies Corp. Supported by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development and China Welfare Institute Children's Palace, the initiative has events planned in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong'an in Hubei province. Organizers said students will be able to stay overnight at what they describe as "science camps". Activities will focus on inspiring young people to pursue careers in science and engineering.
