Surgery to replace a 3-year-old girl's enlarged skull was performed successfully on Wednesday in Hunan province, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The girl, Hanhan, was suffering from congenital hydrocephalus, an abnormality that affects the normal flow of fluid in and around the brain.
The surgery, which took more than 17 hours, was the first successful operation of its kind in China. The enlarged cranium was replaced with 3D titanium mesh.
