Cities will be able to host all snow events, says visiting expert

Beijing and Zhangjiakou's existing and planned facilities will be capable of hosting all categories of snow sports if their joint bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics succeeds, visiting experts from a leading Swiss ski resort said on Tuesday.

Doubts have been expressed in some international media about the cities' ability to stage ski events, and there has been concern about the relatively late establishment of the skiing industry around the capital.

However, the executives from Swiss-based Verbier Ski Resort gave their backing at the end of a business trip during which they visited areas in Beijing's Yanqing county and Zhangjiakou, Hebei province, that have been earmarked for Olympic events.
