117 rescued from migrant boat

The Greek Coast Guard said on Sunday 117 migrants were rescued off the western island of Zakinthos after issuing a mayday call. Greek authorities launched the rescue operation on Saturday night after receiving the distress call. A military plane spotted the vessel west of Zakinthos in the Ionian Sea, the Coast Guard said. The nature of the emergency was unclear.
