Official wants bigger penalties

A senior leader of the Communist Party of China has called for a revised disciplinary regulation to impose harsher punishments on Party members. Wang Qishan, head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said during an inspection tour in Shaanxi province from Wednesday to Friday that although the law has set standards for behavior, Party rules demand more from its members. The ruling Party's discipline and regulations must be harsher than the law's, he said.
