Norman Bethune

He was a well-known Canadian surgeon who arrived in early 1938 in Yan'an, the base of the 8th Route Army in Northwest China, to provide medical services. In the following year and a half, he trained the local medical staff and treated wounded Chinese soldiers and sick villagers.
