Man detained for spreading rumor

Police have detained a man who they say spread an online rumor that someone who had leapt to his death did so because of the recent stock market slump. The 29-year-old suspect, a project manager at a technology company in Beijing, posted the information along with video and screenshots on Friday afternoon, authorities said on Sunday. Beijing police discovered that the video was taken on Friday morning in Jiangsu province, where a man jumped to his death from a building in Haimen. Police are continuing to investigate.
