On the sidelines
No sweat, your Highness
Camilla, wife of Prince Charles, took home a sweatband thrown into the crowd by Andy Murray. It was caught by the All England Club chairman, who then handed it over to the royal visitor.
Royal Box watch
Joining Camilla for the best view in the house were Roger Federer's parents Robbie and Lynette, Liverpool and England soccer star Adam Lallana and Michael and Carole Middleton, the parents of Prince William's wife Kate.
Taking in the grounds was Australian former Formula One driver Mark Webber and Hollywood star Antonio Banderas.
Shot of the day
Federer's lob from between the legs that chipped Sam Querrey on Centre Court.
"It's rare that it happens so when you get them, you've got to pull them off - and it was a perfect shot," said the seven-time Wimbledon champion. "But you don't make them, you look a little silly."
Question of the day
Nadal was thrown this curveball: "If grass-court tennis was a person, if it was a human being, how would you describe your relationship with that person?"
Little and large
Japan's Kurumi Nara, the shortest player in the top 100, took on defending champion Petra Kvitova, one of the tallest, on Court One. Nara is 5-foot-1, while Kvitova is 6-feet.
Hot and wet
After Wednesday's hottest day ever recorded at Wimbledon, the start of play on Thursday was delayed because of rain.
