A moment in time: Summer quencher

Beer is among the most refreshing drinks available during hot summers in Beijing. In the 1970s, not many people knew about beer, and it wasn't always served cold. Back then, refrigerators were rare in the average family home and people took empty bottles to buy fresh imported beer on the street, as in the photo, taken in 1979. However, as seen in the 2013 photo, bars are no longer a novelty in Beijing. People can now enjoy local beer whenever they want.
