Former auto boss loses NPC rank

The top legislature on Wednesday disqualified the former chairman of Chinese carmaker FAW Group as a deputy to the National People's Congress because he is being investigated for graft. Xu Jianyi, who had also been the group's Party chief, has been under investigation since March for "alleged serious violation of discipline and law". Gao Baoyu, former chairman of the corporation managing Yingkou Port in Liaoning province, was disqualified as an NPC deputy for similar reasons, according to a statement released after the bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee.
