Govt extends sanctions on Western foodstuffs

The Russian government announced on Thursday that it had extended the import ban on certain food products from the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia and Norway.

"The ban on import of certain types of agricultural products, raw material and food from the United States, any EU countries, Canada, Australia and Norway, has been extended for one year," the government said in an online statement.

Lasting till Aug 5, 2016, the current food embargo list includes milk and other dairy products, while others, for example oysters and flowers, are excluded, according to the statement.
