A report by a Chinese think tank has interpreted China's Belt and Road Initiative as another version of "rebalance in Asia", which is "evidently different from the US Rebalance in Asia strategy".
Global attention has grown since Beijing unveiled its action plan for the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, proposals that span several continents.
The Chinese initiatives "serve the needs for another round of reform and opening-up for China, for advancing regional cooperation in Asia, and for boosting world peace and development", said One Belt, One Road Initiative and the Reconstruction of the Asian Integration Model, released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on Thursday.
