Deal seeks exchanges to combat disease

The war on Ebola is heating up with the signing of an agreement on Wednesday between China and the US on fighting the disease.

The two nations pledged to promote closer cooperation, scientific discovery, capacity building and the exchange of information in the field of infectious diseases.

The memorandum of understanding for the Collaborative Program on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases was signed by the US Department of Health and Human Services and the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
