Nations 'break new ground' to protect oceans

China and the United States agreed on deepening maritime cooperation and "breaking new ground" in their ties on Wednesday.

The two countries reached consensus on oceanic protection in several major areas as they concluded the seventh China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue.

They expressed support for carrying forward bilateral exchanges between their maritime safety agencies, according to the two sides.
