Need seen for global epidemic defenses

China called for the establishment of a strong global defense against epidemic diseases at an international meeting on Ebola prevention on Wednesday in Chongqing.

About 120 delegates from 15 countries discussed Ebola control, touching on topics such as clinical treatment, patient care, lab testing, prevention, international aid and hospital infections.

It was the largest global meeting on Ebola and included international and nongovernmental organizations such as the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, organizers said.
