Belgian craftsmanship helps Asian jeweler sparkle

By Zhuan Ti | China Daily | Updated: 2015-06-24 07:42

Gems produced by Asian jewelry brand, Tse Sui Luen Jewellery, are shining brighter than before by using Belgium's leading diamond manufacturing technology.

Belgium, especially the city of Antwerp, is known as a global hub for diamond design, production and certification because it is home to the greatest number of diamond-cutting masters, renowned designers and certification organizations.

For instance, the flagship series of Tse Sui Luen, Estrella, is the result of three years worth of joint efforts from the company and Rosy Blue in Antwerp, which is one of the world's leading suppliers of rough and polished diamonds to the world's wholesale and retail jewelry industry.

The world-exclusive 100-facet TSL Estrella diamond features nine symmetrical hearts and a solitary blossom visible on the crown.

TSL said the result of this symmetry is a brilliant "fiery" luminescence with peerless scintillating beauty, reflecting the fact that Estrella means "shining star" in Spanish.

"The hearts symbolize an everlasting relationship. While the blossoming flower represents the birth of a star - the star of your life and your true love," said Anthony Jim, director for group marketing and international business of TSL Jewellery Group.

The innovative series adopts the unique and world-leading 100-facet cutting technology, which demands that each diamond is cut numerous times. The process is much more complicated than the regular 58-facet cutting method.

With the unique "Nine Hearts and One Blossom" patterned stone as its highlight, the Estrella series makes a breakthrough in sparkle levels compared with conventional diamonds, according to the jeweler.

"As a master of diamond cutting, it is our belief that the TSL Estrella diamond represents the best cut that we have ever made," said Russell Mehta, chief operating officer of Rosy Blue. "Its creation is the triumph of art and technology."

Every Estrella diamond is accredited by two of the most-respected independent institutions in the world, the International Gemological Institute and GemEx.

Established in Antwerp, IGI is one of the world's largest independent laboratories for gemstone grading. Every TSL Estrella diamond has a unique IGI report with precise measurements of cut, clarity, color and carat. A distinctive IGI certificate number is inscribed on the diamond's girdle for authentication.

In addition to evaluating diamonds using the 4Cs rating, measuring "light performance" of diamonds is an important way to reveal their potential. GemEx Systems Inc, a globally renowned organization for diamond brilliance evaluation, certified the light performance of the Estrella diamonds, which have a high collection value.

"The superior light performance of the TSL Estrella diamond and the accompanying GemEx report proves that you can search the world over and not find a more beautiful diamond," said Randall Wagner, president of GemEx.

TSL Jewellery is currently one of the largest jewellers in Asia, principally engaged in jewelry design, retailing, export and manufacturing. The group operates over 200 boutiques spanning major cities in Asia.
