Good news for dairy
China's dairy company Modern Farming has won the gold prize for a second consecutive year at the 54th edition of Monde Selection, which was held in Portugal's capital Lisbon earlier this month, with 3,000 products from 76 countries competing. The Brussels-based Monde Selection, founded in 1961, is an institute of international reputation that tests and evaluates consumer products from around the world. Gao Lina, the company's president and board chairwoman, spoke about the company's effort to produce safe and quality milk products at a forum held to discuss the healthy development of the domestic dairy industry. China's dairy industry had been growing fast since the early 1990s, until a scandal over melamine-tainted baby formula broke in 2008, killing consumer confidence and curbing the industry's fast growth.
