A club that is fast and furious

By Xu Lin and Hu Meidong | China Daily | Updated: 2015-06-20 09:04

Along the Puxia Dragon Boat River in Fuzhou, Liu Jinhua, 52, is carefully watching a group of young people paddling a colorful dragon boat in the sun at 3 pm. For a decade, it's almost his daily routine to train his members in the river for upcoming dragon boat races.

The young people are members of the Puxia Dragon Boat Club, a group of villagers who are well-known for their achievements in professional dragon boat races.

"I can't leave dragon boats or my team members. When someone leaves, I will have a feeling of loss," Liu says. He joined the team in 1985 as a paddler and became the leader in 1995.
