Ancient salt lake turns rose pink

The color of an ancient salt lake in Yuncheng turned to rose pink recently, attracting many residents to visit the area. Local people have been extracting salt crystals from the lake for more than 4,000 years. People can float on the lake's surface due to the water's high salinity, which has earned the lake the name "China's Dead Sea". The lake has turned pink because of mineral substances evaporating as the temperature rises. It is also caused by red-colored algae called dunaliella salinas in the lake, experts said.
