The US Zatec company and the China Nuclear Operating Research Institute cooperated for the first time in the inspection of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Station in Zhejiang province last year ... they jointly invested 1.24 million yuan ($264,000) on setting up a Sino-US non-destructive testing joint venture in Beijing last month.

The country is gearing up construction of nuclear power plants to meet its growing demand for energy.

Earlier this year, authorities gave the green light for more units at the Hongyan River nuclear plant in Liao-ning province, marking the first time in four years that such work has been approved, following the country's suspension of new nuclear projects in response to Japan's Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011.
