Expanding in China
The St. Regis Family Tradition programs are flourishing in China. A moving library cart plan, which has a list of 30 books and series for three age groups of children chosen by author Yang Peng, was launched in The St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort, and it is expected to be adopted in all six St. Regis hotels and resorts in the country.
The St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort offers golf, snorkeling and cooking lessons for children. Families can explore Sanya's mangrove forests by kayak or enjoy sailing on the South China Sea.
At The St. Regis Chengdu, the brand's most recent opening in China, families can try their hands at Sichuan opera mask making and visit the giant panda breeding center.
Daphne Sipos, global brand director of St. Regis, said the brand plans to open eight more St. Regis hotels and resorts in China, including Macao at the end of 2015, and other destinations such as Changsha, Lijiang and Qingshui Bay in Hainan in the pipeline. The brand currently has flagships in Beijing, Lhasa, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Chengdu in operation.
"It's really exciting," said Sipos, "China is a huge growth market for the brand".
