About250,000 netizens abroad have voiced their support for a campaign to stop revelers from eating dog meat as part of summer solstice celebrations in Yulin in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

"This tradition cannot disappear in just a few days or years. Local authorities should persuade residents to eat less dog meat and allow the tradition to die out by introducing new dishes."
