Four more years of Uncle Sepp looks like a very safe wager

By Tym Glaser | China Daily | Updated: 2015-05-29 07:46

Brace yourselves for four more years of Sepp Blatter running or, perhaps more accurately, ruining FIFA.

When the 209 ballots are counted on Friday at the FIFA Congress in Zurich, Switzerland, the 79-year-old Swiss should win the required 67 percent on the first ballot and reclaim the presidency for a record fifth term.

His sole challenger, Prince Ali of Jordan, is likely to lock up the European votes (UEFA) and also some from his Asian confederation (AFC), but that is not going to be enough to usurp Uncle Sepp as he has Africa (CAF), South America (CONMEBOL), Central America, North America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), Oceania (OFC) and swathes of Asia already in his hip pocket.
