Dry weather raises sugar imports

Sugar imports increased to the highest level last month since October 2013 as domestic production declined because of dry weather, customs data said on Friday. Inbound shipments doubled from a year earlier to 550,510 metric tons in April, while purchases in the first four months increased 36 percent to 1.55 million tons.
