Ex-policemen stand trial

Three former policemen accused of being responsible for the escape of three inmates from a prison in Yanshou in September stood trial on Friday on charges of abuse of power and dereliction of duty. Three inmates escaped from the prison in the early morning of Sept 2 after killing a guard. More than 15,000 police officers were deployed in the hunt for the fugitives. They were recaptured and tried last month.
