Home building must wait for safety codes

By Xinhua in Kathmandu, Nepal | China Daily | Updated: 2015-05-20 07:36

The construction of new homes in Nepal has been banned by the government until the end of the financial year, which falls on July 15.

After this, the ban will continue in the earthquake-stricken nation until it comes up with a new building code and other necessary policies and regulations.

The decision was made at a meeting on Monday chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Prakash Man Singh, the Republica daily newspaper reported on Tuesday.
