Pregnancy test ends betrothal

A man surnamed Sun in Jining got engaged to a 26-year-old woman two days after she was introduced to him and gave her 36,000 yuan ($5,800) as betrothal money. Sun, 25, felt he was being set up when the women asked him for 100,000 yuan more as gift money for the marriage. He took the woman to a hospital, and tests showed she was almost three months' pregnant, but Sun had only met her a month earlier. The woman agreed to return 30,000 yuan and then disappeared. She has not replied to telephone calls or text messages since.
