About 200 leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have joined China's most popular micro-blogging service Sina Weibo, according to weibo.com.

In April 2012, former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd opened an account on Sina Weibo. The fluent Mandarin speaker has released more than 340 posts in Chinese and has more than 591,000 followers.

In September 2013, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro joined Weibo before visiting China. An introduction described him as "the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela", who is building his nation through a "highly efficient revolution". It also said he has an affection like that between father and son for late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.
