A six-day Asia-Africa Workshop on Food Policy, sponsored by the World Food Council, is being held this week in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, attended by more than 60 representatives from some 18 Asian and African countries as well as from international agencies.

China's experience in basically solving the problem of feeding and dressing 22 percent of the world's population while cultivating only 7 percent of the globe's arable land is of far-reaching significance to all developing countries ... Since 1978, China has conducted a series of rural economic reforms and adopted new agricultural policies.
