Event set for declaration anniversary

By Xinhua in Seoul and Pyongyang | China Daily | Updated: 2015-05-09 08:34

Private groups plan to honor 15th year since leaders of ROK, DPRK signed cooperation pact

Private organizations from the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea agreed to hold a joint event in Seoul next month to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the historic June 15 Declaration, local media said on Friday.

The diplomatic initiative came the same day that the DPRK warned Seoul of "strikes without any prior warning" against ROK naval ships if they continue to intrude into DPRK waters. Pyongyang also lashed out at the US and other "hostile forces" for suspecting ulterior motives behind the country's satellite program after a new satellite control and command center was completed for space research.
