Exports of rare earths fall 21%
Exports of rare earths from China fell to 8,044 metric tons in the first four months of this year. That was down 20.8 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the General Administration of Customs. In April, the country exported 2,506 tons of rare earths, which are used in electrical devices such as smartphones and tablets, up 23.51 percent from a month earlier, the GAC said on Friday.
