Editor's note: China Daily reporter Fu Jing interviewed Moscow residents to find out their thoughts on the West's boycott of the Victory Parade in Red Square to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.

"The West is not right in choosing to skip the Red Square parade, because the May 9th victory is not only for Russians, it is a victory for all the people in the world. Chinese President Xi's attendance has shown that China is a country with high political independence."
