Red Cross praised by Xi

President Xi Jinping expressed appreciation on Tuesday for the contributions made by the Red Cross Society of China and said he expected the charity organization to continue with reforms.

He also promised support from all levels of Party and government branches for the organization, which has been clouded by reports of corruption and lack of transparency.

"The Party and government attach great importance to the society and expect it to enhance its sense of responsibility, adapt to the new period and new tasks, to continue improving itself and push for reform and innovation," Xi said.
