Non-store retailers will face tougher regulations

The Ministry of Commerce plans to bring in new practice standards to protect consumers after releasing draft regulations for non-store retailing on Tuesday. Non-store retailers and service providers must only promote sales according to the law, and are banned from misleading consumers. In addition, they must clearly highlight important information during promotions such as how long they last. Non-store retail is the sale of goods outside the mainstream sector, and includes online shopping, TV shopping, telephone mail orders and automated vending. The draft regulations are open to public feedback until June 5.
