Capital shuts down airport to big jets

Runway can't handle strain of aid aircraft but remains open for medium-sized jetliners

Despite dire needs, earthquake-hit Nepal on Sunday was forced to close its only international airport to big airplanes flying in relief supplies and aid workers because the only runway couldn't handle the continual strain of numerous large aircraft flying in to help.

Medium-sized and small jets were still allowed to land, officials said.
