Item from May 4, 1998, in China Daily: A wide-bodied B747-200 aircraft lands at the new Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok on Saturday, part of the first airfield trial conducted by the Airport Authority.
More than 90,000 people are expected to tour the passenger terminal at the new Hong Kong International Airport during a series of open days in May and June prior to its July 6 opening, the Airport Authority announced on Saturday.
"The New Airport Experience" program aims to familiarize Hong Kong people with their new airport ... the program includes the new road transportation network linking the new airport as well as facilities within the airport itself.
