Q1 growth in line with expectations

The top leadership said on Thursday that economic growth in the first quarter was conforming to expectations amid downward pressure on the economy. It pledged to maintain the continuity and stability of macro policies to ensure growth stays within a proper range. A statement released after a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, chaired by General Secretary Xi Jinping, said China will step up targeted control measures and take action to combat the downward pressure.
