1. Slate Surface

Features: It can be found near cliffs and faults, or paved areas. The surface is usually flat and covered by moss. It becomes extremely slippery during rain and snow, and might lead to an accident.

Tips: Use a trekking pole, especially when going downhill. Use a stick in the absence of professional gear. Step where two slates meet or the grass at the sides. Keep a good distance from the people ahead and behind.
