Hungry and desperate villagers rushed toward relief helicopters in remote areas of Nepal on Tuesday, begging to be airlifted to safety four days after a devastating earthquake killed more than 5,000 people.
As Nepal's Prime Minister Sushil Koirala said getting help to remote areas is a major challenge, aid finally began to reach areas that had to fend for themselves since the quake struck.
The toll in Nepal stood at 5,057, while more than 100 people died in neighboring countries, including China and India. About 8,000 people have been injured.
