Measures planned to help disabled

The China Foundation for Disabled Persons had total revenue of 384 million yuan ($62 million) last year, 354 million yuan of which came from donations; but the organization spent 416 million yuan, of which 405 million yuan, or $66.2 million, went on activities related to public welfare. Its expenditure on staff and administration accounted for just 3.43 percent of the total, in line with regulations on foundation operations. Officials at the foundation revealed it funded 15,000 cataract operations during the year, and treatment for another 2,305 people who have hearing difficulties. China has 85 million disabled people.
