Lottery sales slow 6.3% during March
March lottery sales totaled 30.81 billion yuan ($ 4.97 billion), down by 2.06 billion yuan or 6.3 percent over the same month of 2014, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Finance. In the first three months of this year, 94.84 billion yuan of lottery tickets were sold, up by 14.80 billion yuan or 18.5 percent year-on-year. The finance ministry said the weaker March performance was the result of a continuous fall in instant lottery sales since April 2014, and increased scrutiny of online lottery sales by the authorities.
