Ceremony security reviewed
Security arrangements for next weekend's ANZAC Day commemorations in Britain are being reviewed following terrorism arrests in Australia, although there is no specific threat, police said on Saturday.
"We already have protective security plans in place for major ANZAC events in the UK," said Neil Basu, deputy assistant commissioner for specialist operations at London's Metropolitan Police. "But as a sensible precaution, all forces have been asked to review security arrangements at related events to ensure they are safe and secure for the public and officers.
Two men were held in Melbourne on Saturday, accused of planning an Islamic State-inspired attack at ANZAC Day commemorations, the country's most important national event, which recognizes veterans of the bloody Gallipoli campaign during World War I in present-day Turkey.
