Community efforts at the heart of business
German premium carmaker BMW shows that it values customer engagement and corporate social responsibility as it is dedicated and sincere about Chinese society.
"CSR is an integral part of our dedication to taking root in China as we see it as a core part of our overall strategy," said Karsten Engel, president and CEO of BMW Group Region China.
According to Engel, BMW has a long-term commitment to Chinese society, where the company wants to deepen its sustainable efforts. Both the strategy and practices of BMW's CSR program are based on this commitment.
The BMW Warm-Heart Fund which was established in 2008 as a comprehensive BMW corporate citizenship platform, has effectively pooled and mobilized the whole BMW's warm hearted family.
More than 250 BMW dealers and more than 65,000 car owners and employees have engaged in public welfare events, which have benefited more than 91,000 people in China, according to BMW.
The fund has a wide range of participants including BMW employees, dealers, customers and other compassionate donors. All are welcome to deliver help and care to people in need, and contribute to the community.
"The emotional bond that comes from volunteering together has helped us become friends and a united team," Engel said.
