Action targets community sentencing

The Supreme People's Procuratorate will initiate a special action in mid-April to investigate convicted people who have escaped serving sentences in the community, authorities said on Thursday.

The action will continue until the middle of July, the SPP said.

"Misconduct by some law enforcement officers and existing loopholes in management are mainly to blame for such cases," Yuan Qiguo, director under the SPP's prison management department, said on Thursday.
