Free trade zones are expected to be set up in central and western regions, now that Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, and Lanzhou, capital of Gansu have submitted applications for such zones, the China Securities Journal reported on Wednesday. The network of FTZs should be extended into inland regions, and zones in central and western region along the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road are most likely to get approved, said Chen Yao, secretary-general of the Chinese Association for Regional Economics.
