Jar of ancient coins found by farmer

Digging in his fields with his wife, a farmer surnamed Chen of Dapo town in Haikou found a porcelain jar containing 65 kilograms of ancient coins dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Archaeologists say the find is not valuable because many coins dating from this period exist. Chen found another jar of coins weighing 85 kg in 1987. He sold the coins as scrap copper and received 800 yuan ($131).
