Regulating golf in China

1993: Some policies restrict golf course construction

2004: Temporary ban on building golf courses.

2014: Nationwide crackdown on illegal golf courses by 11 authorities, including the National Development and Reform Commission, begins in July. From September to year's end, at least 12 golf courses in Beijing were shut down. About 100 golf courses in Guangdong province were listed for review by authorities, and five were required to close.
